Is January 1st Your Company Holiday Entitlement Reset Date?

17/12/2025
If your holiday reset date is 1st January, here is a quick checklist to help you stay compliant

  • Approve or decline all pending time off requests in the current year

Make sure time off approvers have actioned all pending time off requests before your holiday period closes. If time off approvers don't do this, the value will carry over, and the time-off status report for that period will be incorrect.

  • Check employees' unused time off this holiday year

There are a few different ways you can check how many days employees have already used, and how many they have remaining.

  • Remind staff to use remaining leave

If your holidays reset 1 January, post an announcement to remind your employees to use their remaining leave before then.

  • Manage carried-over leave for 2026

If your company allows carried over leave, check your time off policies' settings to make sure you have carried-over leave set up correctly. You can configure whether there should be a maximum amount of carried-over leave allowed, and set an expiry period for it.

  • Prepare your 2026 calendar

Import your public holidays for 2026.

📌TIP: If required, create your blackout dates for 2026 too.
