Save time with electronic bank feeds

23/01/2026

Sending bank statements to your bookkeeper is time-consuming and can lead to long periods of inaccurate financial records. However, it is a necessary part of the process.

One solution is to contact your bank or credit card company to request that your bookkeeper has view-only access to your accounts. This allows them to obtain statements but prevents them from transferring funds. Another option is to link your business bank accounts to your accounting software. Digital management services specialises in Sage software and uses a process known as bank feeds.

Bank feeds reduce manual processing and minimise the risk of errors. When a bank account is linked to Sage Accounting, we check for new transactions daily and download them to the incoming transactions page from which they are posted to the bought ledger.

Although it is not technically illegal to use a bank card with the account holder's permission, bank policy typically prohibits or cautions against using someone else's debit card. It is crucial to never provide your accountant or bookkeeper with your username and password. This is a liability and could lead to insurance issues.
